I had wanted to try Ding Seng Fresh Frog Porridge in Bukit Indah for a long time and finally did it today. It turned out to be a very nice lunch 😋

Ding Seng Fresh Frog Porridge is a no frills, bare bones eatery. When a place serves good food, we rarely let the environment deter us 😄

Ding Seng's main selling point is their live frogs which are raised in their own farm in Yong Peng, Johor. They are just the size of a child's fist. The live frogs are slaughtered only on order.

Sorry Mr. frog 🐸

Two of us, we had two clay pots of frog porridge and one "Signature Claypot Frog with Dried Chili".

The fresh frog cut into small pieces was cooked in a savoury sweet sauce with lots of dried chili, ginger and spring onion etc.

The pieces of frog were quite bony. Frog meat was smooth with a tender light spring to the bite. Frog meat is denser than fish but finer than chicken.

The frog meat's flavour was subtly sweet which was discernible beneath the mild savoury sweet spicy sauce.

The frog porridge served in a well used claypot doesn't look too appealing at first sight. I also didn't like it that it came already dusted with white pepper on top. I prefer to add condiments myself, as I am old and quirky 😜

Woo... hoo... this frog porridge was really good.

The same good fresh froggie.

The porridge was awesome. The rice gruel was heavy and thick. Made with a blend of different types of rice together, it produced a porridge with layers of sweetness which complemented the frog's natural sweetness perfectly.

The remains of four frogs.

We enjoyed ourselves a lot. We will surely be back.

Next time, we shall have just a small order of frog with dried chili to perk up our taste buds (to enjoy the frog's delicate flavours).

We will upsize the frog porridge so that we can indulge more in the wonderful porridge which contained the sweet essence of a few types of rice and fresh frog.

Our bill for four small frogs came to RM52. We feel it is reasonable for the food we enjoyed.
