Casa Coffee at Kensington Market in Toronto Canada

Casa Coffee founded in 1963 is probably the oldest coffee shop in Canada. It is located at the heart of Kensington Market, right at the junction of Augusta Avenue and Baldwin Street. You can't miss the coffee coloured brick building, nor can you miss the people perched at the window or coffee sipping folks chatting along the veranda.

The place simply draws you in for a look see, if not for a coffee.

Let's take a walk inside first.

My favourite spot inside.

I like these window seats which look out directly at Augusta Avenue -  sitting on a warm perch cradling a cup of hot coffee while watching the colourful parade at Kensington Market is my kind of bliss ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

In the summer, the veranda will also be a wonderful hangout.

Time worn, sepia coloured old photos of Casa Coffee hang overhead. From the looks of it, the exterior of the coffee shop didn't changed much - I suspect the spirit of this corner shop is also much the same. It hasn't been swept under by the hipster cafe waves.

Casa sells a good range of single origin Arabica.

A quieter corner inside to sip your Java.

Casa Coffee was a grocery stall in it's early life. The owner was giving out cups of coffee to customers as a welcome gesture. Later, when people started coming in just for their coffee, Casa gradually morphed into a full fledged coffee shop. But, there are still reminders of Casa's past - they have a good range of colourful candies and ice cream.

Now, let's head back to the counter for coffee ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Simple menu with all the basics. As long as there is latte, it has everything I want ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

The coffee is nice though not sexy looking. I am happy. This is a coffee shop, isn't it?

  1. Before going home, you must try Tim Hortons, our proud Canadian coffee outlet located in every street corner of Toronto.
